AbstractSAR Imagery has being used widely for geological interpretation and mapping over different scenarios and conditions. In particular, at difficult access areas, it is in invaluable tool with need of research evaluations and suitability approaches. This work evaluated, quantitatively, the influence of incidence angle and azimuth look-direction for litological discrimination at flat terrain conditions in a semi-desertic region, located in the Brazilian Northwest. Orthorectified RADARSAT images (S2A, S7A e S7D modes) were converted to sigma zero values and conducted several statistic analyzes. Results showed that imagery with single azimuth look-direction were suitable for litotype discrimination at increasing incident angles. Constant incident angle with variations of look-direction azimuth (descending orbit) characterized properly the rock types in the region.
